What is a Human Risk Report?

Cybercrime is on the rise and with more businesses than ever operating virtually online, the risks of having their businesses exposed to cybercrime are daily increasing. Just as in days gone by when criminals may have tried to steal from a business’s offices or warehouses, today information is the target, and the criminals are as sinister and as effective as ever as they comb what we call the ‘Dark’ web to access crucial data.
Sadly, this is largely achieved through targeting the individual employees of the business, who may (even sometimes without knowing it) be exposing their companies to cybercrime risks. The question that you as a business owner need to ask yourself is ‘’how long will it take for them to exploit my employees and access my sensitive corporate data?’’
How exposure to cybercrime is achieved
Here are three key ways it is done…
1. Credentials are exposed on the dark web
Data records, usernames and passwords are added to and sold on the web all the time with an alarming 63% of businesses reporting the loss of sensitive data in 2019
2. These credentials are used for phishing and Social engineering
A whopping 88% of businessesfaced targeting phishing attacks in 2020, simply due to users using the same passwords for multiple accounts – making it easy for attackers to conduct Business Email Compromise (BEC)
3. Human error is exploited and your security compromised
Criminals prey on unwitting users and exploit human error, like downloading malicious attachments and use this as their gateway to capturing corporate data.
With human error causing an incredible 95% of data breaches, it’s obvious that business owners should not wait to find out the hard way what their risk status may be. A ‘Human Risk report,’ (HRR) therefore, is a tool to help you tackle your human risk areas.
This is offered absolutely free by my company CyberPhish to demonstrate our commitment to fighting cybercrime and to get your business on track to being cyber secure. Watch this space for more detail on how an HRR is compiled and how it works to effectively reduce your human risk score.
